About DNS Function

You are provided with some basic functions that relates to your server’s Domain Name System data.

Manage a DNS Zone

You can add and set up a DNS zone on your server. This DNS zone is an administrative space of the domain name system. This space is necessary for directing traffic to the right locations. You can also delete a DNS zone from your server, you can delete both single and multiple zones at once. You can as well edit records in a domain’s DNS zone file. A DNS zone can be reset to its default values as part of DNS zone management.

Add an A Entry for Your Hostname

An A entry is address record, it consists of data that is within your server’s DNS zone files. An A entry matches a hostname or domain name with an IP. If you want other computers to find your server in the Internet then it is essential that you have a correct A Entry.

Edit MX Entry

You can designate a priority value to each destination mail server within a list provided by this feature.

Edit Zone Templates

If your DNS setup is custom you may want to edit the template that is used by WHM and cPanel to create DNS zone files for new domains.

Nameserver IPs Feature

You can add or remove nameserver IP addresses on your sever with this feature. This feature is useful when a nameserver configuration needs to be modified that has been set up using the Basic cPanel and WHM Setup screen.

Park a Domain

A parked domain is a domain that points to another domain, typically a user’s domain. This feature allows you to park a domain so that it references another domain.

DNS Cleanup

If your BIND configuration has become corrupted the feature will become helpful as well as if you need  duplicate nameserver configuration files which are causing DNS problems for your server. 

Setup/Edit Domain Forwarding

You can use this feature to direct one domain to another domain. This is used to temporarily redirect visitors versus parking a domain.

The Swapip Utility

This feature gives you the ability to update an IP address in a zone record.
