Content Management Systems allow website owners to quickly publish content to the web. News sites and blogs are especially easy to run from a Content Management System. WordPress is by far the most popular CMS, with a barrage of plugins and extensions that can be used to spruce up a blog or news site. One advantage it has over WordPress is that it has support for MySQL, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL, rather than just MySQL. There are many different plugins available for the platform, as well as style templates and other types of extensions.
The countless extensions available for the platform make this a lot more flexible than cut-and-dried blogging software such as WordPress. It does have the features that are commonly desired by bloggers, however, such as RSS feeds and news flashes. The bottom line is that Joomla is an excellent choice if you need a little bit more interactivity than you would get from WordPress, but otherwise don’t need a lot more than blogging, articles, and multimedia content.

There are far more included features in this platform than WordPress. If your business plans to have a large internal web infrastructure, the authentication and security options will integrate tightly with most current architectures. If your enterprise needs a social networking-like system that’s not available to the web at large, this platform contains everything that an Enterprise CMS requires and more.
The security provided will also make running it on a hosted system a little safer. The disadvantage of the eXo platform is that it requires a Java Server runtime like Tomcat. If you’re using a VPS (Virtual Private Server), it is a fairly easy product to set up but it will incur the extra overhead of running a Java server. The bottom line is that if WordPress doesn’t cut it, and packages like Joomla which are less focused on blogging also don’t cut it, eXo platform is nearly a guarantee.
