Technology and the World Wide Web has become a necessity in our daily lives. Because of this, our decisions are affected by equipment that allows us to access the Internet.
What restaurant are we going to? How do I get to my destination? Where can I do my shopping? Questions, that are answered by just pressing a couple of keys. Making everyone used to having this information without thinking about where it came from and how this platform came to exist.
World Wide Web is an information system on the Internet. Allowing all documents to be linked to other documents through hypertext links. Also, allowing users to search for information by moving from one document to another.
History of the World Wide Web
Sir Tim Berners-Lee is a computer scientist who developed a solution. Sharing information with others was problematic and according to his experience, it was easier to ask in a for the information that he needed. Performing a search required multiple computers. In some cases, different programs. Then, Tim had the idea of creating a platform that would allow sharing information. A new technology called hypertext.
In March 1989, Tim worked on the proposal of what would become the World Wide Web and, despite not having much support at the beginning, he managed to turn it into a reality.
The World Wide Web has three fundamental technologies that remain in the network and that many of us know.
Fundamental Technologies
- HTML- Hypertext Markup Language is the language format of the network.
- URI-Uniform Resource Identifier is a type of unique address that is used to identify each of the resources in the network. Also known as URL.
- HTTP- Hypertext Transfer Protocol- Allows you to obtain the resources linked to the network.
Important to realize that, World Wide Web is a free platform for life. Particularly, allowing users to have total freedom over the content published. Therefore, is universal and speaks the same language regardless of the system that the computer has, is equal (Net Neutrality). As a result, it allows a worldwide consensus for its use. In conclusion, these principles have brought changes in society, politics, religion and it has open the doors to more possibilities.
