What is a Cloud Server?
Imagine having a server that is spread out over multiple physical host-servers and in case of a single host-server failure your server is automatically moved to an active host-server without ever loosing connection to your vital services. Being able to provision a server or upgrade a server's hardware on the fly as you need it is another main advantage of our Cloud Server. All this using a Cloud Control Panel that is easy to use to manage your Virtual Machines on the Cloud. Totally customizable, each Cloud Server gives you the ability to create Virtual Machines with full root access to your Linux distribution or Administrator access to your requested Windows version. Your price depends on the amount of hardware resources and Windows or cPanel licenses you choose.
Based on Virtualization technology, Cloud Servers brings the power and high availability of the cloud to the dedicated server model. Just like a dedicated server, your Cloud Server provides total access for you to run any application or task you want on a fault tolerant platform.
Are there additional fees for licenses?
No additional licensing fees apply for any Linux distribution. Following templates come with additional fees:
• cPanel: $20
• Windows Web: $18
• Windows Standard: $26
• Windows Enterprise: $36
Is there a User guide for the Cloud Control Panel available?
You can download the User Guide here: http://www.serverpronto.com/documents/spcloud-userguide.pdf
If I am not using my Cloud Server, do I still have to pay for it?
We do allow for an "Offline" mode for the Virtual Machines on your account, in which charges for additional RAM and CPU resources not apply. Charges for licenses and for hard disk resources as well as the hardware resources selected at signup apply monthly.
When do charges for additional resources get billed for my Cloud Server?
Additional resources that are used on top of the resources selected at sign-up get billed every 1st of the month or if applies at the time of your cancellation.
How does a Cloud Server compare with a Dedicated Server?
Our Dedicated Cloud servers and standard Dedicated Servers have more similarities than differences. Both allow full access to the operating system and applications. Both allow hosting of the same applications and services. Both run on server grade hardware. The differences are that Cloud Servers use virtualization to share hardware with other Cloud Servers and to provide platform high availability. Further does the Cloud Server come with a Cloud Control Panel which gives an extra level of control to the user. With this Control Panel you can reboot and re-install your server, you can create backups and restore your system, you can also allocate resources as needed to your Cloud Server and more.
Are Cloud Servers the same as Virtual Private Servers (VPS)?
No, Cloud Servers are hardware and network fault tolerant and utilize high availability (HA) features to keep your services online and available. A VPS does off fault-tolerance but the 100% uptime can only be guaranteed on the Cloud. Also the Cloud comes with a Cloud Control Panel which gives an extra level of control to the user. With this Control Panel you can reboot and re-install your server, you can create backups and restore your system, you can also allocate resources as needed to your Cloud Server and more. Can I transfer data between Cloud Servers without bandwidth charges?
Yes, if desired we can add secondary network adapters and a private IP address range to use between servers.
I want to scale my plan, what do I do?
All plans are "a la carte". Each item which is upgradable can be upgraded to the available options on the order form for the listed price. On an existing Cloud Server you can allocate additional resources by clicking on your VM from the Cloud Control Panel, under Actions you can choose Adjust Resource Allocation.
How much CPU do I get?
Cloud Server host machines have Intel Xeon Quad Core processors. Each Cloud Server is assigned a 2 virtual CPU Cores as the minimum configuration. Additional Cores can be assigned on a "a la carte" basis. Each CPU is given the same priority in the cycling process, this allows a customer with 4 Cores to access the CPU cycles 2 times as often as a customer with 2 CPU Cores. In addition to these guaranteed minimum CPU cycles all Cloud Servers are capable of bursting, this allows Cloud Servers utilization of any excess CPU cycles that are available on the host machine.
Can I upgrade dedicated resources without upgrading my entire plan?
All plans are "a la carte". Each item which is upgradable can be upgraded to the available options on the order form for the listed price. On an existing Cloud Server you can allocate additional resources by clicking on your VM from the Cloud Control Panel, under Actions you can choose Adjust Resource Allocation.
Can I use my own image for a Cloud Server?
No, for custom OS installations you would have to get a dedicated server.
