cPanel is a graphical web-based management tool designed to make the administration of web sites as easy as possible. The software, which is proprietary, runs on a number of popular RPM-based Linux distributions such as SUSE, Fedora, Mandriva, CentOS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and cAos.
There are three types of cPanel modules including cPanel and WebHost Manager, cPanel DNS Only, and cPanel GS.
cPanel and WebHost Manager (WHM) combine to form a fully featured web hosting control panel system. The cPanel and WHM package allows you to manage every aspect of your server's web hosting needs through two easy to use interfaces. cPanel and WHM are both installed with every copy of the cPanel and WHM software and must be used together.
cPanel DNS ONLY is a free product that allows you to run a DNS server which will be automatically updated by any servers that you link to it running the cPanel Server Suite. cPanel DNS ONLY is meant to be used on standalone DNS servers only which have no previous content on them.
Using DNS Clustering in WebHost Manager, you can create a cluster between your standalone name servers and any server running the cPanel and WHM. This means that any DNS changes made on your cPanel server will be sent to your standalone DNS server(s). You will no longer have to use local name servers with cPanel and WHM.
cPanel GS is cPanel's gameserver administration panel. It allows you to configure game settings, log information, start and stop games, monitor resource usage and more.
