Red Hat is offering secure server bundles in partnership with Symantec. The companies are aiming to help small and medium-sized businesses secure server hosts.
The solutions deliver a certified and tested package that offers customers the choice of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or the Red Hat Application Stack bundled with Symantec Critical System Protection. These solutions are designed to let customers implement a secure server complete with Red Hat’s Linux and middleware platform for both pre-configured and custom configured behavior-based host protection and against application threats running on the server.
Customers will be able to deploy a what Red Hat called a “proactive security solution that addresses the security needs of small and medium-sized enterprises by protecting against both traditional threats and zero-day attacks and by providing security administrators with the reporting and auditing capabilities to ensure compliance with internal security policies.”
“The inherent security advantages of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the Application Stack, combined with Symantec’s Critical System Protection, gives small and medium enterprises a great standards-based, secure foundation for a variety of application workloads,” said Todd Barr, Director of Enterprise Marketing.
Red Hat and Symantec will offer two secure server solutions to customers: Secure Server Host and Secure Server Host for Applications.
The Secure Server Host solution brings together Symantec’s proactive, behavior-based host intrusion protection and detection technologies with the leading open source Linux platform for enterprise computing for servers with up to two processor sockets. This solution is designed to ensure host integrity and system compliance, as well as reduce the cost and complexity of data center environments.
The Secure Server Host for Applications solution brings together the same security technologies mentioned above with the Red Hat Application Stack, an open source suite needed by enterprises to run standard web and enterprise applications based on Java, LAMP or Linux. Designed for enterprise computing needs for servers with up to two processor sockets ensuring host integrity and system compliance, the solution is designed to reduce the cost and complexity of data center environments.
